School cafeterias nationwide will be celebrating National School Lunch Week (October 11-15) by promoting healthy school lunch choices through a unique, interactive campaign that aims to inspire every type of student to get excited about nutrition.
“School Lunch — What’s on Your Tray?” offers students a fun way to learn about all the components of a well-balanced school lunch. Students who visit www.whatsonyourtray.org can take a personality quiz to reveal which of the site’s cool cartoon characters fits their personality the best. Whether they score as Balanced, Radiant, Strong, Chilled or Creative, students can learn what foods are best to fuel their action-packed days and keep them healthy – each character comes paired with nutritious eating tips.
The campaign is being sponsored by School Nutrition Association (SNA), with support from the Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP). Each year, to raise awareness of the importance of the National School Lunch Program, SNA helps schools recognize National School Lunch Week with an official theme, suggested menus and recipes, promotional resources and more.
Some school cafeterias will celebrate by introducing healthy new menu items, inviting parents and special guests to lunch, offering free meals, hosting school contests or launching nutrition education programs.
National School Lunch Week is a great time to find out more about what is going on in your school cafeteria. Join your children, nieces or nephews for school lunch (contact your school’s front office first to find out about visitor policies) or take time to go over their school lunch menu with them and encourage them to try something new!

Hi – would you be interested or allowed to partner with a small fruit brand company for National School Lunch Week to help spread the word on the importance of healthy eating for kids at school and home. Wanted to see if this is something your open to and explore how we can help.
Thanks!
Sarah
How can I find out what my local school district is doing for National School Lunch Week?
Barbara, please contact the school foodservice/nutrition department in your district. Information for how to reach the director or department should be listed on your school district website. Sarah, someone from the School Nutrition Association will be in touch with you soon via email.
